Welcome to the Information Technology Unit of our esteemed university. As the IT Coordinator, I'm honored to lead a dedicated team of professionals who ensure that our IT infrastructure operates seamlessly, facilitating optimal performance across all academic and administrative departments. In today's digital era, the role of IT in education has never been more pivotal.

Our team is not just responsible for maintaining our IT infrastructure, but also for driving the university forward with innovations that aid in providing a superior academic experience for all. With each member bringing their own unique expertise and strengths, our team works tirelessly to ensure that you have the tools and resources you need to succeed in your academic journey.

Our vision is to be recognized as a model IT Services Unit that consistently delivers innovative, reliable, and secure technology solutions, thereby enabling Zanzibar University to excel in its mission of acquiring and disseminating knowledge.

1. Dr. Abdo H Guroob - IT Coordinator and Network Administrator

Entrusted with overall strategic planning, coordination, and management of the IT unit.

2. Ms. Kheyrat Abdullah Ali - Database Administrator

Responsible for the management, performance, integrity, and security of our databases. She ensures that data remains consistent, is clearly defined, and is accessible even during peak times.

3. Mr. Said Bakar Hassan - System Administrator

Manages and monitors all installed systems and infrastructure. He ensures the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, making sure everything runs smoothly.

4. Mr. Abdulkarim Abdullah Mohamed - Network Administrator

Looks after the configuration and maintenance of our network infrastructure. He is the go-to person for ensuring smooth network operations.

Our E-mail service provides a reliable and secure platform for communication within the university community. We offer personalized email accounts to all faculty, and staff, enabling seamless communication and collaboration. Our service includes robust spam filtering, ample storage space, and integration with productivity tools such as calendars. We strive to ensure that our email service is accessible across devices, allowing users to stay connected and organized.

2. Network Administration:

Our Network Administration service focuses on maintaining a high-performance and secure network infrastructure throughout the university campus. We monitor and manage network resources, including switches, routers, and firewalls, to ensure optimal connectivity and availability. Our team works diligently to troubleshoot network issues, implement necessary upgrades, and enforce security measures to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access. We also provide support for network connectivity and assist with the configuration of network-enabled devices.

3. Computer laboratories services

Our Computer Laboratories Services aim to provide students and faculty with state-of-the-art computing resources to support their academic and research activities. We maintain and manage computer labs equipped with the latest hardware and software, ensuring a conducive environment for learning and experimentation. Our services include regular maintenance and updates of software applications, user support, and assistance with specialized software and tools.

4. Connect to Wi-Fi

Our Wi-Fi service ensures reliable and seamless internet connectivity across the university campus. We deploy and maintain a robust wireless network infrastructure that covers all key areas, including classrooms, libraries, and common areas. Students, faculty, and staff can easily connect to the Wi-Fi network using their university credentials, allowing them to access online resources, collaborate, and conduct research.

Our team provides guidance and assistance in selecting the appropriate hardware devices based on individual needs and requirements. We also offer support in setting up and configuring the distributed hardware, ensuring that users can quickly start utilizing their devices without any hassle.

Our Help and Support team is dedicated to assisting users with the setup and configuration of hardware devices. Whether it's a new computer, printer, or other peripherals, we provide step-by-step guidance to ensure proper installation and optimal functionality. We help users connect hardware devices, install necessary drivers, and troubleshoot any compatibility or connectivity issues. We aim to simplify the setup process and empower users to make the most of their hardware devices.

3. Software Installation and Upgrade

Our Help and Support services encompass software installation and upgrades. We offer guidance and assistance in installing software applications on university-owned devices. Our team ensures that the installation process is smooth and error-free, providing support in resolving any issues that may arise. We also keep users informed about software upgrades and assist in upgrading their applications to access new features and enhancements. Our goal is to ensure that users have the necessary software tools to enhance their productivity and efficiency

4. Technical Support

Our Help and Support team provides comprehensive technical assistance to address any issues or challenges faced by users. We offer a responsive help desk where users can report technical problems and receive timely assistance. Our experienced technicians are proficient in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, providing step-by-step instructions and guidance to resolve problems efficiently. We strive to minimize disruptions, restore functionality, and ensure that users can effectively utilize technology in their academic or administrative tasks.

Our Help and Support services extend to events held within the university community. We offer technical assistance and support for various events, including conferences, seminars, and workshops. Our team collaborates closely with event organizers to understand their specific technological requirements. We provide on-site support to set up audiovisual equipment, ensure smooth internet connectivity, and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during the event.
